International Celebrities Tee It Up
Continental rivalries loomed large during the first
ever All-Star Cup Celebrity Golf Tournament in
Newport, Wales. The Roman Road Course at
Celtic Manor Resort—venue of the Ryder Cup in 2010—played
host to the competition, a charity
event that posed two teams of 10 celebrities
from Europe and the United States against each
other in a Ryder Cup format. With Colin
Montgomerie and Mark O’Meara setting the
strategy as the non-playing captains, the players
engaged in a spirited duel. And just like the
real thing, a dramatic comeback on the last day
clinched the Cup for the Europeans. Star players
who made the cut included Catherine Zeta-Jones,
Michael Douglas, Rob Lowe, Ronan Keating, Jodie
Kidd and Cheryl Ladd.
