It is difficult to imagine Four Seasons
choosing more picturesque settings for its first European
resort than the rolling countryside of Provence in the
south of France. Located outside a quaint village in the
Domaine de Terre Blanche, the newly opened enclave is
tantalizingly close to both the beaches of the Cote d’Azure
and the slopes of the southern Alps. But for those guests
who simply wish to unwind, the resort puts a markedly
cosmopolitan spin on the region’s famed joie de
vivre—it offers a full service spa, suites that
are not only airy and light-filled but replete with plasma
TVs and DSL, and a delectable cuisine that owes no small
debt to the gastronomic riches of the region. The first
of two golf courses designed by Dave Thomas debuted along
with the resort in March and takes full advantage of the
scenic rural setting. It plays across oak-clad hills and
boasts grand mountain views. And lessons at the David
Leadbetter Academy provide a sure way to keep focused
on the game.
